“Do unto others as you would have others do unto others” – Jeree Pawl, former director of the Infant-Family Program, San Francisco General Hospital

 What is Reflective Practice?

Interest in reflective practice and supervisory support is growing as rapidly as interest in the social and emotional well being of babies, toddlers and preschool age children.  Whether trained as a mental health professional, a health professional, a social worker, an early childhood professional, or an administrator or policy maker influencing work with children birth to age five and their families, you will benefit from supportive consultation to help you better understand yourself in relationship to the very young children and families with whom you work.  (To learn more click here.) Reflective practice focuses on the development of relationships that support growth and development between supervisors and staff, staff and families, and parents and children. It is within these relationships that learning and change is able to take place. It is more a way of being than a way of doing. (Zero to Three)

Reflective supervision is a fundamental element in providing relationship-based practice, in Infant Mental Health, and it is a requirement for professionals under the OK-AIMH Endorsement. If you are interested in learning more about Reflective Supervision, please click here or here.  A 2008 Reflective Practice Group is being finalized to work with Janet Dean, PhD.  This experiential group will be limited to 25 participants.  Those attending must agree to make a commitment for the entire year. The dates for the  2008 group are:  June 27-28, September 5-6, and December 5-6.  A letter to participants detailing all of the information about this outstanding training, and the registration form can be found below.
