What is Infant Mental Health?

OK-AIMH was formed in November 1991 and is an affiliate of the World Association for Infant Mental Health. The objectives are to:

  • Encourage the realization that infancy is a critical period in the psychosocial development of the individual;

  • To increase the sophistication of its members’ responses to the needs of infants and their families;

  • To promote the optimal development and wellness of the child and family through prevention, identification, treatment and support so that they may realize their maximum potential;

  • To engage in activities that encourage cooperation and collaboration with other groups, agencies, and individuals that serve children and families within Oklahoma and its neighboring states and provinces.

Any person interested in improving the mental health of infants and their families is welcome to join the association.
